Your Best Life Now?

These three Turkish Christians gave their lives for serving Jesus.

Tilman was stabbed 156 times, Necati 99 times and Ugur’s stabs were too numerous to count. They were disemboweled, and their intestines sliced up in front of their eyes. They were emasculated and watched as those body parts were destroyed. Fingers were chopped off, their noses and mouths and anuses were sliced open. Possibly the worst part was watching as their brothers were likewise tortured. Finally, their throats were sliced from ear to ear, heads practically decapitated

Meanwhile over here in this "Christian" country the United States, we are worried about living our best life now - which of course involves a two story house and a BMW. If our neighbor looks at us a little funny for being a Christian, we about lose it. We can't handle the "persecution" that we have to endure. And of course, we would never consider speaking out for Christ or sharing our faith, someone might yell at us or make fun of us. So, we continue to live our "Best Life Now!" with little thought of the multitudes that are dropping into hell all around us.

It's no wonder why we don't see revival in our country - we're too big of wimps for Christ. I'm afraid we know little of what it means to be truly dedicated to Him - no matter what the cost!

Forgive me for the tone of this post. There's just something about seeing what others give for Christ, and then looking at the American version of Christianity that gets me worked up...and feeling guilty...

  2. You mean it's not all about me and my "Christian" version of grabbing for the American dream? Are you saying there is something wrong with a "what do I get out of it, doctrine?". Is Holiness really more than worn out, cliched claims about being better than everybody else?
Caution my brother; start preaching substance over symbolism and you'll find the Amish don't own the market on shunning....

Thank-you...for the reality check-up. May God continue to bless your ability to articulate truth.
