Proverbs 20:6, "Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness..."
I just watched this video of convicted child pornographer Matt Duhamey who operated a Web site which featured girls between the ages of 9 and 10 in seductive poses.
In the video a reporter asks him if he is sorry for what he has done. He had just been sentenced to 5 years in prison for his actions. Of course, he said he was sorry...but then he still was able to proclaim himself a good person. He said, "Anyone that knows me, knows that I'm a good person and I know that I'm a good person."
I just wish someone would have been there to take him through the 10 Commandments - perhaps then he would have been able to see that he is not so good after all...after all, the purpose of the Law is to stop men's mouths and to reveal sin. Unfortunately most of the evangelism and preaching of our day has done away with the use of the Law. So, we have a lot of "good" people (including those who think they're Christians) who are doing all sorts of horrible things - but they're "good" so they think they'll be all right in the end. God help us!!
