What was surprising about Hybels poll results was that his people wanted "more deep truths of God." Unfortunatly for them, their Pastor isn't intrested in giving them "more deep truths of God." Instead Hybels told them he would begin teaching them, to survive on less - in fact, all they will get is "whip cream."
The Christian Post reported:
Willow Creek leaders will be altering the way they coach to teach attendants how to be “self-feeding individuals” early on in their spiritual development. Rather than expecting to be spiritually fed each week with a 35-40 minute sermon on Sundays, congregants will start learning how to take responsibility for their own feeding. Everything else – the worship services and the classes at Willow Creek – will just be “whip cream” on top.I came across this great quote by Charles Finney today, I think it really speaks to this whole situation:
Away with your milk and water preaching of the love of Christ that has no holiness or moral discrimination in it, away with the preaching a Christ not crucified for sin.Check out this post for more about this sad story.
Hmmm....this post brings up another post in my mind. It's located at: http://www.perrynoble.com/2007/08/30/three-questions-i-ask-when-it-comes-to-criticism/
