Larry Smith has a great article in the most recent edition of the
God's Revivalist entitled "
To Reform the Continent." This article deals with "scriptural holiness both public and private." It begins:
“In 1771 we had only 316 members in society…,” recalled Jesse Lee. But by 1810, Methodist adherents in America had grown to 163,038—an astounding growth in 39 years, as we may add, of 51,594 percent! Cautiously the old circuit rider remarked, “I wish that we may increase in grace as fast as we have in numbers.”
