There is a cool new website called bidnearby.com. On this website you can find and compare deals from local stores, Craigslist, eBay, Amazon, and more with BidNearBy.com, a Google maps mashup.
Here's how it works: just type in your zip code, then type in what you're looking for. BidNearBy then will retrieve all the corresponding results from your area within a maximum 200-mile radius, and it shows you the location of the items on a map. So, if you're looking for an item on ebay but it something that you want to go pick up, you can go to bidnearby.com first and find out if there are any items close to you.
I want a motorcycle so you can go to bidnearby look one up that is somewhere close to zip code 31015, click on the link to the site where it's for sale, buy it for me, and then I can then go pick it up! :-) (Don't I wish...)
