Why I'm not Anglican...

Actually, there are a lot of reasons why I am not part of the Episcopal Church, but in this week's edition of Newsweek magazine I found another reason.

In 2003 Gene Robinson became the first openly gay bishop in the Episcopal church. He was interviewed in this week's Newsweek and was asked: "How do you reconcile what the Bible says about homosexuality with your lifestyle?"

His answer? "The people who are taking the Bible literally are absolutely outside the Anglican tradition."

  1. Stuff like this has always made me wonder why people want to be a minister in this type of denomination in the first place.
Deny the deity of Christ, inspiration of Scripture, sexual purity, etc. and what does one have left.
Kinda like joining a vegetarian group that allows its members to eat chicken, well-done beef, "not too much" pork, and only 1 serving of mutton/day.
At one point is there justification for even calling oneself vegetarian?

Same with these "main-stream" denominations. Just drop the charade and form a moose lodge or something!
