"How can you be willing to do God's will that you don't know, when you don't do God's will that you do know?"
This question has been causing me to think. I recently heard this question stated by Dr. Allan Brown on a cassette tape of a message he preached several years ago.
Most people who claim to be Christians will attest to being willing to do God's will. Especially those who claim to be sanctified. After all, part of sanctification is a surrender of self completely over to God.
Many people claim to be willing to go and do, or to be, whatever God wants them to. However, I'm afraid that multitudes of people claim to be a Christian, and willing to do whatever He wants; yet, they fail to do the part of God's will that they do know - that which is recorded in God's Holy Word.
The subject Dr. Brown was preaching about when he made this statement was the subject of hair as found in 1 Corinthians 11. How many "Christian" ladies (and men) are disobeying this passage of Scripture? This is just one example, we could find many more.
I don't write this to sound judgmental, only to stir up thinking. Are you willing to do whatever God wants - including both what you do know (that which is written in the Bible) and that which you don't know, which is found in prayer?
There is a little chorus that we sing at my church, it goes like this: "I'll say, 'Yes Lord Yes, to Your Will and to Your Way.' I'll say, 'Yes, Lord Yes. I will trust You and obey. ' When Your Spirit speaks to me, with my whole heart I'll agree. And my answer will be 'Yes, Lord Yes.'"
How about you? Is your answer "yes" to whatever God asks of you??
